Our Mission
Our mission is to empower individuals to join the ERACE POVERTY team of endurance racers and raise financial support for the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of halving extreme poverty by 2015. All proceeds raised support programs helping impoverished people secure their basic human rights. We believe that everybody deserves food, clothing, shelter, safe drinking water and access to health care, education and employment.
We believe the solution to poverty lies not in increasing charitable contributions, but in eliminating the conditions that create poverty. This is why we seek out and support organizations attacking the root causes of poverty. It is becoming increasingly clear that once a poor community establishes a self sufficient industry, it can begin lifting itself from hunger and poverty.
The criteria we use in carefully selecting our partner organizations derives from the most effective approaches to alleviate poverty identified by United Nations development experts. These are ways to alleviate poverty which would cost relatively little but are likely to be highly effective and sustainable. They are outlined in the Sachs Report, a document created for the UN Millennium Project.
